Solar panels work through the use of photovoltaic cells within the panels mounted on your roof.
What are photovoltaic cells and how do they work?
Photovoltaic cells in your solar panels collect energy radiated from the sun. When the sun’s rays hit the photovoltaic system, it creates a flow of electricity. This is captured and converted into direct current (DC) electricity. An inverter is then used to convert this DC electricity into alternating current (AC), which your appliances at home are powered by.
What is a solar panel battery storage system?
A solar panel battery storage system is used to store the electricity generated from your solar PV panels. This energy can then be used when the sun goes down or during cloudy days. Battery storage systems are optional, but can double the amount of green electricity your home uses over the average year. This means your electricity bills and the amount of electricity you buy from the electricity grid drastically reduces all year round.
